is there a catch on the free web hosts?

I need a web host that offers about 100 megs of space. my friend recommended that I use 1 & 1 but I dont want to spend any money on it so I want to know if I should get a free host or buy one. I am 14 and I just want to make a sit for fun but useful to other people. what is bandwidth

1. It better to have a paid hosting sonce it provide security for your site free host often cannot be trusted they put popup and adwares in the site and make them look ugly but ofcourse there are some freehost reliable one you just have a research a bit on this
2. Yes, ad banners and/or other advertising... That is pretty much it though...
3. Check out www.awardspace.com they have gret free web hosting with 200 mb of free space and 5gb of bandwidth. Also, there are no ads! Period!
4. 1&1 IS CRAP!!!!! All those cheap webhosting places are lame! I know becasue i used to use them... i like dreamhost.com... its good... and nothing in life is free..
